GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland freshman John Popeck was named to the All-ACC men's golf team, the conference announced Monday. Popeck, Maryland's only representative on the squad, was one of two freshmen to earn the distinction this season.

Popeck led the Terrapins with seven rounds of par or better during the spring. His low round was a 70, with an average of 72.86. Popeck earned the only individual win of the year for Maryland when he claimed victory at the Rehoboth Beach Spring Invitiational, edging out Penn's Brett Rendina in a playoff.

Popeck's two top-10 finishes and three top-20 events tied for the team lead in both categories with senior Chris Gold. The freshman from Washington, Pa. had the low round of 54 holes for the Terps, shooting a 211 at the River Landing Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Matt Hill of NC State was named the league's Player of the year. Brooks Koepka of Florida State earned Freshman of the Year honors.
