Shannon Riley joined the Maryland softball program as its director of operations in the summer of 2012. She played four years of Division I soccer and one of softball at Mount St. Mary's and most recently has worked for assistant coach Jillian Callaway with 5 Star Athletics.
Since 2009, Riley has worked with Callaway as the director of operations for 5 Star Athletics, managing business operations, organizing camps and clinics, and working with local programs and universities to promote softball. She also has spent the last three years as a C.H.E.K. Practioner II, working with clients on rehabilitation exercises.
Riley played second base and was a slapper for the Mountaineers' softball team. She was a Dean's List honoree and was named to the NEC All-Academic Team. Riley started for four years on the Mountaineers' soccer team and is No. 5 in their all-time record books in career assists.
Riley graduated in 2004 with her business degree with a concentration in sports management. She earned her Master's of Business Administration in May 2006.
From 2007-09, Riley worked as a personal trainer at the Wellness for Life Fitness Center and at MAC Wellness.
She attended nearby St. Vincent Pallotti High School, where she earned 11 Varsity letters. She was named All-Met in both soccer and softball by The Washington Post and earned WCAC honors in softball, soccer and basketball.
