COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball team rallied in the bottom of the seventh with two runs and the bases loaded, but it wasn't enough as the Terps fell 6-2 to Seton Hall at Robert E. Taylor Stadium Tuesday.

Sophomore starting pitcher Kaitlyn Schmeiser held the Pirates scoreless through four innings. Seton Hall took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Sara Hafaeli led off with a double to left. Brittany Hammer brought her in with a base hit through the left side. Maria Deluca doubled to center to bring in two more runs.

In the top of the seventh, the Pirates took a 6-0 lead when Alex Rabbetts sent a three-run home run over the left field wall.

Maryland (4-11) got its offense going in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Nikki Maier and junior Mandy Gardner started things with back-to-back base hits. Freshman Corey Schwartz singled to load the bases with one out. Senior Lexi Carroll was then hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Freshman Juli Strange sent a sacrifice fly to center to score another Terps run, but Schwartz was out at third after the throw from center.

Schmeiser pitched 4.0 innings with three hits, one run and two strikeouts. Freshmen Maddie Martin also saw time in the circle.
