In the fifth inning of the second game, Maryland's Julie Lofland singled before Whitney Reigel singled to advance pinch runner Krista Gould to second. Virginia Tech's Angela Tincher was called for an illegal pitch, moving both runners up. Senior Jenny Belak singled to short-right field to score the runners and send the Terrapins home with their first ACC win of the season.

Dooley finished with six strikeouts while only allowing two hits, both in the third inning, for her 10th win on the season. Hokie starter Kenzie Roark took the loss and moved to 1-3 on the season.

In the first game, the Terps' run in the fifth inning was the first run surrendered by Hokie starter Angela Tincher in 34 innings in NCAA games, 41 including Tincher's no-hitter of the US National Team in an exhibition game Wednesday night in Oklahoma City. The Hokies used a three-run third and a four-run fifth to power their way to victory.

Senior Jenny Belak singled to center field and stole second for her 48th steal of her career, tops in school history. She scored her 100th run of her career on a Kerry Hickey single to center field.

Belak's three hits on the day now puts her 18 shy of tying the career record for hits at Maryland with 194. Belak also moved into seventh all-time at Maryland with 661 at-bats in her career.
