COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland softball seniors Jenny Belak and Sarde Stewart were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Louisville Slugger All-Mid-Atlantic First Team, as announced by the NFCA Monday. The Terps had the third-most players selected in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as 13 players were selected to all-region teams from the league.
Belak led the Terps this year with 67 hits, 24 stolen bases and was second on the team in hitting with a .327 average. She broke four career records at Maryland this year, including hits with 219, stolen bases with 60, triples with 12 and at-bats with 755. Her 67 hits this season tied for third-most in a single season at Maryland.
Stewart had one of the most prolific seasons from the plate in Terp history, winning the team triple crown this year. Her .338 average was the sixth-best in Maryland history, while her 49 RBIs were second-most and her 10 home runs were the third-best.
The Terps finished the season 36-23, the third-most wins in school history and have increased their win total in each of head coach Laura Watten's three seasons.
