COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball team will head to Raleigh, N.C. this weekend for a three-game series at Atlantic Coast Conference opponent North Carolina State. The Terps (28-17, 5-9) have won four of their last six conference games in the last two weeks.
The series will begin at noon Saturday, instead of 1 p.m., because of an unfavorable weather forecast. Sunday's game is still scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Terrapins currently own the all-time series over the Wolfpack 9-8, winning the series 2-1 in 2009. N.C. State is coming off of a 2-1 series win over Virginia last weekend and two wins over UNC Wilmington Wednesday.
Heading into the weekend's series, junior pitcher Kerry Hickey has 399 career strikeouts, fourth-most in school history. Hickey and sophomore Kendra Knight, combine to rank second in the ACC in team ERA (1.71).
Senior Alex Schultz is in the top ten of the ACC in nearly every offensive category. Her .433 batting average on the year is second-highest in the league and highest-ever for a Terp in a single season. She recently scored her 100th career run and is the sixth Terrapin to break the 100-run mark.
