COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland softball team finishes its non-conference schedule Wednesday as it travels to Towson for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. The Terps come into the game 34-18 on the season and 28-6 in non-conference games so far this season.
Senior Sarde Stewart leads the Terps this season with a batting average of .352, nine home runs and 42 RBI. Maryland, as a team, is batting .292 against non-conference opponents this season. Terp pitchers Sarah Dooley and Lindsey Wright are a combined 15-6 with six shutouts outside of Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Towson comes into the game with a record of 32-23. The Tigers are led by Nina Navarro, who is batting .360 and has 33 RBI. Towson's main power threat is Aimee Rosa, who has nine home runs and 32 RBI. The two pitchers the Terps will most likely face are Claire Rietmann-Grout, who is 14-7 with a 2.21 ERA and 133 strikeouts, and Shannon Johnston, who is 16-12 with a 2.38 ERA.
The Terps return to ACC play Saturday for their final regular season series at Boston College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
