Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Maryland softball team claimed its second consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference series win Sunday afternoon behind sophomore Kendra Knight's dominating performance in the circle. The Terps (29-19, 7-10) beat the Wolfpack (28-23, 9-9) 1-0 to go 2-1 in the three-game series.

Knight pitched all 7.0 innings for the Terps and allowed N.C. State batters just one hit on the day. Landon Warren singled up the middle to leadoff the first inning for the Wolfpack. It would be N.C. State's only hit of the day. Knight did not give up a walk and recorded six strikeouts in the win.

Neither team scored until the top of the fourth inning. Junior Marisha Branson sent her third home run of the season to right field for the lone run of the game.

Freshman Sara Acosta had two hits on the day, junior Kerry Hickey and Knight also had hits on the day.

The Terps will head home this week for a midweek doubleheader against Delaware State beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
