COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday in College Park has been moved to Sunday at 1 p.m. due to wet field conditions in College Park. The Terrapins (27-17, 0-2 ACC ) lock horns with the Virginia Cavaliers (42-17, 0-4 ACC) in an ACC twinbill as the Maryland softball team celebrates the careers of its four senior student-athletes.
The Terrapins have won four in a row, sweeping doubleheaders from local non-conference rivals Towson and George Mason. Virginia took a pair from the Elon Phoenix in North Carolina yesterday. Both teams are looking for their first conference wins.
Four Terp seniors, along with their families, will be honored in a Sunday ceremony as Maryland takes on the most local of its conference rivals. They are pitcher Amanda Bettker (St. Petersburg, Fla.), outfielder Danielle Carpenter (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), first baseman Kiesha Pickeral (Hughesville, Md.) and catcher Beth Radford (Dunkirk, Md.).
Admission to the new state-of-the-art softball facility is free. The complex is located adjacent to the Comcast Center construction site, near the Azalea Lane entrance to campus.
