COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Although the "grand opening" is scheduled for next season with the completion of the University of Maryland's Comcast Center, the Terrapin softball squad is slated to play the first doubleheader at their new state-of-the-art facility on Wednesday, April 10. Local-rival Towson will be the Terps' first opponent, weather permitting.
The Terrapins (22-17, 0-2 ACC) and Tigers (22-12, 2-1 CAA) are scheduled to meet in Game 1 at 3:30 p.m., with the nightcap to follow. The doubleheader was originally slated to be played at Towson but was changed due to a rain make-up earlier in the season.
Admission to the Terrapin Softball Complex is free. The facility is equipped to seat 1,000 fans, and includes a surround-sound system, concession stands, full dugouts, light towers, batting cages, bullpens and restroom areas among the amenities that will debut on Wednesday.
