TERPS PLAY HOST TO VIRGINIA, S. FLORIDA AND FLORIDA STATE
Maryland plays host to Virginia (Tuesday, 3 p.m.), South Florida (Friday, 3 p.m.) and Florida State (Sun, noon) in the final week of play before the team travels to the ACC Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. April 23-25.

TERPS TAKE TWO FROM GEORGE MASON
Junior pitchers Kelly Shipman (Huntingtown, Md./Northern) and Tisha Killian (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) gained victories Saturday as the Terps swept a doubleheader from George Mason. Shipman pitched the Terps past the Patriots in the first game, 5-1, while Killian was victorious in the second game, 6-1.

LACKOVIC RIDING SCHOOL-RECORD 12-GAME HITTING STREAK
Junior Fawna Lackovic (Centreville, Va./Chantilly) enters the week of April 13 riding a school-record 12-game hitting streak. Lackovic has recorded at least one hit in every game since March 23 against Georgia Tech. During the span, she is hitting .317 (13-41). For the season, Lackovic is hitting a career-high .347. The previous school record for consecutive games with at least one hit was 11 by former Terp Deanna DiBari during the 1995 season.

POTZMAN ESTABLISHES SCHOOL RECORD FOR DOUBLES IN A SEASON
Freshman Jennifer Potzman (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) enters the week of April 13 with a school-record 13 doubles. She lined a double in the fifth inning of Saturday's first game against George Mason to surpass current teammates Fawna Lackovic and Kelly Shipman, who both banged out 12 doubles during the 1996 season.

POTZMAN NEARS SCHOOL RECORD FOR SINGLE SEASON RBI
Freshman Jennifer Potzman recorded two RBI in the Terps' doubleheader sweep of George Mason on Saturday. Potzman now has 29 RBI which places her only one shy of Fawna Lackovic's school record of 30 RBI during the 1996 season. Potzman is one of a school-record four players who have accumulated 20 or more RBI this season.

SHIPMAN RISES ABOVE 700 CAREER STRIKEOUT MARK
Junior Kelly Shipman enters the week of April 13 with 712 career strikeouts. She has 173 this season and is looking to surpass the 200 plateau for the third consecutive season. She struck out a career-high 285 opponents during the 1996 season.

SANDLER WITH CAREER-HIGH 20 RBI
Junior Amy Sandler (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) has a career-high 20 RBI this season. Her 20 RBI this season nearly matches her two-season combined total from her freshman and sophomore seasons of 21.

TERPS BY THE NUMBERS
.827 Junior Kelly Shipman has stolen 24 of 29 bases (.827) during her career including two of three (.667) this season.

.833 Maryland has won five of its six games that it has played at home this season for a winning percentage of .833.

1.00 Junior Fawna Lackovic is a perfect six-for-six in stolen bases this season. For her career, she has stolen 18 of 19 bases (94.7 percent success rate).

2 Junior Amy Sandler has hit a career-high two home runs this season. She did not hit any home runs in either of her first two seasons in College Park.

2 Freshman Michelle Burrell (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) tied her season high with two hits in the second game of the doubleheader sweep of George Mason on Saturday.

4 Head coach Gina LaMandre needs only four victories to reach 100 for her career. She averages 24 wins per season in her first four seasons as a collegiate head coach.

6 Sophomore catcher Sarah Putnam has scored six runs in 37 games this season. She scored five runs in 48 games during her freshman season in 1997.

6 Junior Kelly Shipman has hit a school record tying six home runs this season. She is tied for the single season lead with current freshman Jennifer Potzman. Shipman had hit only three home runs in her first two seasons combined.

18 Junior Fawna Lackovic has a career-high 18 RBI this season. Her previous career best was 15 during the 1996 season.

34 Sophomore Cortney Madea has a career-high 34 hits this season. Her previous career-high was 28 during her freshman season.

MADEA AMONG TEAM LEADERS IN HITS AND RBI
Sophomore Cortney Madea (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) is ranked second on the team with 26 RBI and fourth on the team with 36 hits. She had a career-high four hits and three RBI against Campbell University on March 28 and had one hit in both games of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of George Mason. She is hitting a career-high .327 from the designated hitter position in the lineup this season.

TERPS ESTABLISH SINGLE SEASON RECORD FOR HITS
Maryland has recorded a single season school record 294 hits as a team this season. The previous single season best was 281 during the 1995 season.

MORE, MORE MORE
Through 37 games of the 1998 season, Maryland has scored more runs (180-151), banged out more hits (294-279), hit more doubles (55-41), triples (6-5) and home runs (19-4) and been credited with more RBI (176-115) than during the entire 1997 season.

...A lower combined ERA (1.31) in 1998 than it did in 1997 (1.76);
...Nearly as many complete games in 1998 (33) as it did in 1997 (35);
