COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at Delaware has been rained out, and rescheduled for Thursday, March 14. The Terrapins (9-8) will take on the Blue Hens (2-8) in a twinbill at Delaware Field in Newark at 2:30 p.m. That change moves the Terps' doubleheader with LaSalle, originally re-scheduled for Thursday, to Friday at 1 p.m. Maryland will take on the Explorers (3-3) at Good Shepherd Field in Philadelphia on Friday in a 1 p.m. twinbill.
The Terrapins have participated in the Bama Bash, the Seminole Classic, the USF-Holiday Inn Invitational and the Speedline Invitational already this season, and take their 9-8 record into the non-conference doubleheaders.
Redshirt sophomore Samantha Sweeney (Marlton, N.J.) currently paces the Terps with a .298 batting average and eight stolen bases, followed closely by senior Kiesha Pickeral (Hughesville, Md.) at .296 with a team-leading .463 slugging percentage.
In the pitcher's circle, freshman Jessica Aditays (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore Monica Cyphert (Warren, Ohio) own ERAs of 0.76 and 0.99 respectively, while senior fireballer Amanda Bettker (St. Petersburg, Fla.) has amassed a team-high 44 strikeouts.
