As a junior (2013): Started 29 games at first base before season-ending injury…totaled 18 RBIs and four home runs…went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run versus Massachusetts (2/16)…hit first home run of season against Fordham (3/1)…matched season-high with three RBIs on two hits versus Fairfield (3/2)…had multiple hits in three straight games, including two home runs from Mar. 10 – Mar. 12 against Binghamton and Hampton.
Before Maryland: Played freshman and sophomore seasons at Michigan with 26 appearances...graduated from Aliso Niguel High School (2010)...four-time Principal's Honor Roll...Superintendent's Honor Roll (2010)...Under Armour All-American (2010)...hit .518 as a senior (2010) to led the South Coast League...named the 2009 South Coast League MVP...earned California all-state and All-CIF first team honors as a junior (2009)...named the Orange County Register's Junior Player of the Year after posting a 0.43 ERA, 91 strikeouts and 14-2 record through 97 innings pitched and batting .476 with 15 home runs and 27 RBI...two-time all-league selection (2009, 2010)...two-time Aliso Niguel HS team MVP (2009, 2010)...played for the California Cruisers.

Personal: Parents are Joedy and Sheri Gardner...father played basketball at Long Beach State (1982-84) and was drafted by the Houston Rockets (1984)...mother was Miss California...has two younger sisters, Melissa and Gabrielle, and an older brother who is in the Air Force...intends to study psychology.
