Before Maryland: Played four years of varsity softball at Montgomery Blair for Louis Hoelmann III...was a pitcher and an outfielder...named the All-Gazette Player of the year as a senior (2012) with an ERA of 1.21, 156 strikeouts, a .561 batting average, five doubles and two home her junior year (2011), team won regional championship for first time in school history and was a state semifinalist...named to All-Gazette Second Team that year...spent much of sophomore season (2010) injured...named All-Gazette Honorable Mention as a freshman (2009)...also played on the Bayside Blues for Robert Earl Radford and the Takoma Fire for Kristin multiple honor societies and was on the Honor Roll...has volunteered with numerous community service groups...graduated with a GPA of 3.92...recipient of a full Banneker/Key Scholarship to Maryland.

Personal: Samantha Kathleen Schweickhardt...parents are Kevin and Mary Jo Schweickhardt...has one sibling, Carson...lists her biggest sports thrill as pitching a perfect game and hitting a home run in the same game...walk-on with a full academic scholarship...came to Maryland because of the great combination of academics and athletics, strong softball team and proximity to D.C. and internships...microbiology major...wants to be a doctor, medical researcher, or forensic scientist.
