The Eagles took control of the match from the outset by jumping out to a 20-16 lead in the first set. Maryland responded, however, as consecutive kills by Elliott and Mary Cushman tied the score, 22-22. BC then pulled away as Melissa McTighe then closed the set, 25-23, with a kill.

Boston College carried its momentum into the second set when it took a six-point lead, 15-9, after a Terrapin attack error. Maryland mounted a 6-1 run to get back into the set, but the Eagles prevailed to win, 25-19.

The third and final set was a heartbreaker for the Terps, who held a 21-16 lead late in the set. Boston College went on a 4-0 run after a timeout and the teams remained tied, 27-27, after trading points back-and-forth. The Eagles then closed the match with back-to-back points on a McTighe kill and an Amanda Yerke service ace.

Courtney Castle led Boston College with 10 kills, while teammate Kellie Barnum had 34 assists.

The Terps will look to get back on track Sunday as they travel to Syracuse for a match beginning at 1:00 pm.
