As a Senior (2004): Was among the Terps' most consistent runners, competing in six of the team's seven races... started the year with three consecutive top 10 finishes, finishing ninth at the Mount St. Mary's Duals (5k), ninth at the JMU Invitational (8k) and third at the ACC Pre-Meet (8k)... best 8k time of the year came at the ACC Championships when he ran a team-best 26:04.7 to finish 30th overall.

As a Junior (2003): Was among the top two Maryland finishers in each race he ran in 2003 (six races)... finished second to Terp Doug Allen at the Charlotte Relay, finishing in a time of 31:35... posted his best 8k time of the season in the NCAA Pre-Nationals, finishing in 24:43 (77th place)... was second on the team and 20th overall at the ACC Championships, running the 8k in 25:20.6... earned All-East honors after placing seventh overall at the IC4A Championships on Nov. 22.

As a Sophomore (2002): Led the Terps in four meets in 2002...placed second at the Appalachian State Invitational...ran season-best time of 25:12.77 at the Navy Invitational on Sept. 14, placing seventh...lowered his time at the 2002 ACC Championships by nearly two minutes, posting a 25:47.4 that earned him 31st place.

As a Freshman (2001): Was the Terps' top-finishing freshman at the Navy Invitational on Sept. 8 with a time of 27:04.50...posted his fastest time of the season at the ACC Preview meet on Sept. 29, taking 17th place...finished in 14th place at the Maryland Invitational on Oct. 13 with a time of 27:22.95.

Before Maryland: Attended Shawnee High School in Medford, N.J., where he won varsity letters in cross country...was the captain of his team in 2000...was selected to the all-South Jersey team...also participated in winter and spring track.

Personal: Son of Jill and Peter Ambrus ... has one brother, Neil ... enjoys racquetball, volleyball, golf and the stock market ... chose Maryland over St. Joe's, Rutgers, Iona and TCNJ ... majoring in letters and sciences.
