BOSTON, Mass. - Zakiya Shivers placed sixth in the weight throw at 57 feet, 9.50 inches to earn the best finish of the day for the Maryland women at the ECAC Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center. Shivers earned three team points for the Terrapins in that event.
Scoring one point each for their eighth-place finishes, respectively, were Meghan Braffet, who took 14 seconds off her previous season-best to run 9:40.86 in the 3,000 meters, and Renee Clarke, who was eighth at 56.40 in the 400-meter dash.
The Maryland women tied for 18th place in the team standings with 14 points. Pittsburgh won the team title at the ECAC's, scoring 86.75 points to outdistance Duke, with 64.25.
On the men's side, freshman Dominic Berger finished fifth in the final of the 55-meter hurdles, running 7.48 seconds to earn the bulk of the Terps' points in the IC4A Championships. Berger earned four team points for his finish.
Sean Lowe of Maryland placed eighth in the final of the 400-meter dash at 48.69 seconds.
Maryland finished tied for 35th in the team standings with five points. Rutgers won the team scoring with 74.33 points, besting George Mason with 56 and Manhattan with 52.
