Hill, Ray & Profit Earn All-America Distinction

NEW ORLEANS - Three members of the Maryland track team - Jon Hill and Zack Ray from the men's side, and Kiani Profit from the women's side - earned All-America honors last weekend at the NCAA Championships.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-America distinctions for the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season on Tuesday. Honors were awarded for performances at the final site of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships occurring last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa.

Hill and Profit both earned second-team honors with top 16 finishes, while Ray earned honorable mention. Competing in the high jump, Hill finished with a season best of 7-feet, 2-1/2 inches, placing him 10th overall. Profit, who competed in seven events over the course of two days, finished ninth in the Heptathlon.

Ray, meanwhile, competed in the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles and finished 21st overall with a time of 52.18 to earn honorable mention for a top 24 finish nationally.
