Braffet Places Fourth at ECAC Championships

Princeton, NJ - On the first day of competition at the ECAC Championships, Meghan Braffet placed fourth in the 5,000 meters to lead all University of Maryland performances.

The junior, who has already qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships, ran a 16:51.55. Teammates Laurel Jefferson (17:08.66) and Katie Purcell (17:09.52) also placed in the event, finishing 12th and 14th respectively.

In the discus, Jillian Anwah led three Terps in the event with her 14th place mark of 136-01. Bria Johnson placed 22nd in the event with a throw of 130-02, while Aysha Gregory came in 23rd, with a mark of 128-01.

After one full day of competition, the Maryland women are in tenth place with five points. The ECAC/IC4A Championships will continue today with the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon. Continue logging on to for final results.
