Women Runners Finish 11th at NCAA Regionals

The trio of Danielle Siebert (25th place), Katie Purcell (44th) and Meghan Braffet led the Terps to an 11th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday. West Virginia placed four runners among the top 15 individuals and took the team title, clinching an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship competition in the process.

Siebert led the Terps with a time of 22:09 on the 6k course. The junior finished in 25th place overall, as both Siebert and Katie Purcell finished among the race's top 50 runners. Purcell came in with a time of 22:40, followed by Meghan Braffet in 61st place (22:57), Cori Koch in 82nd (23:28), Rebecca Funk in 120th and Melissa Trusty in 123rd (24:47).

The Terps came in 11th place overall in the team competition, as Big East schools, West Virginia and Villanova, took first and second, respectively, to capture the regional's two automatic bids. Princeton, Georgetown and host Penn State rounded out the top five squads.
