Princeton, NJ - The Terrapin women long jumpers added another item to their long list of accomplishments when they swept the top-two spots in the long jump at the ECAC/IC4A Championships yesterday.
Lynn Hernandez won the event with a season-best jump of 21-01.25. The mark was just off her personal- and school-record jump of 21-01.75, which she had at last year's ECAC Championships. Kierra Foster placed second in the event with a mark of 20-09.75. Both athletes have already qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships.
In the men's long jump, Jayson Alexander placed fifth with a jump of 23-05.25. The mark was his second-best of the season.
In the preliminaries of the women's 400-meter hurdles, Chanel Williams ran a 1:00.53 and placed fourth. The time was a season-best mark and also qualified her for the NCAA East Regionals. Teammate Kristina Keegan placed in the event, running a 1:03.69 to finish 18th.
On the men's side, Sean Lowe placed third in the preliminaries of the 400 meters, with a time of 47.60. It was his second-best mark of the season and left him just off NCAA Regional pace, which he will try to reach in today's finals. Anthony Walker also placed in the event, coming in 32nd with a time of 48.91.
In the preliminaries of the 200 meters, Earl Gray placed seventh with a time of 21.37. The time was a season-best for both him and the Terps. In today's finals, he will also try to reach the NCAA Regional mark, by cutting .18 off his pace.
The Terps conclude competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships today and will return to action at the NCAA East Regional Championships on May 26.
