Foster Wins at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Kierra Foster of the University of Maryland added a Penn Relays title to her growing list of accomplishments on Thursday by winning the championship division of the women's long jump.

Foster, a Terrapin senior who has earned two All-America honors during her career, jumped 20 feet, 10 inches to top a national-class field. The mark was only 1.25 inches short of her previous outdoor season-best.

In the same event, Terrapin teammate Lynn Hernandez placed fourth with a jump of 20-05.25. Both Foster and Hernandez have already qualified for the ECAC and NCAA Regional Championships.

In the women's high jump, Toni Aluko tied for fifth with a mark of 5-06.00. The sophomore has also already qualified for the ECAC and NCAA Regional Championships with her season-best mark of 5-08.75.

Bria Johnson and Jillian Anwah placed eighth and eleventh respectively in the women's shot put. Johnson posted a mark of 45-11.75, while Anwah threw for 45-01.00.

Maryland student-athletes will be competing throughout the 111th Penn Relays, being held at prestigious Franklin Field this weekend.
