The Maryland women's track and field team, competing in a conditioning exercise at the George Mason Invitational, came way in eighth place in the meet's eight-team field. Amie Shomette led the Terps with a 22nd place time of 20:39.17 in the 5k race. George Washington won the team title with 40 points, with American coming in second (59), Virginia Commonwealth in third (82), Howard in fourth (97), James Madison in fifth (125), Radford in sixth (157), George Mason in seventh (171) and Maryland in eighth (208).
For the Terps, Kelly Wallace came in 50th place with a time of 21:59.58 and Ashley Tremblay in 51st with a time of 22:00.30. Darya Fakory came in 55th place and Renee Clark in 66th, followed by Zhanna Barer (71st), Natasha Emmanuel (72nd), Jasmine Artis (73rd), Candace Holness (74th) and Lynn Hernandez (75th). Heather Houston competed unattached and finished in 76th place.

The men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action next weekend, as they each head to University Park, Pa. for the Penn State Invitational.
