ACC 50th Anniversary Women's Indoor Track And Field Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Women's Indoor Track & Field Team was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The 51-member team was voted on by the nine league institutions as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.

North Carolina led all league schools with 15 members on the Golden Anniversary team while Clemson was second with nine honorees. Virginia had seven runners selected, followed by Georgia Tech (6), Florida State (5), Maryland and Wake Forest with three apiece, NC State (2), and Duke with one.

Maryland honorees include:

Kerrie Bowes, Maryland (1996-1997) An All-American in the mile in 1996 ... A two-time ACC Champion in the mile, in 1996 and 1997 ... Named to the All-ACC team in 1996 and 1997.

Marchelle Payne, Maryland (1990-1993) An All-American in the triple jump (1992) ... A two-time ACC Champion in the triple jump, in 1992 and 1993 ... An All-ACC selection in 1992 and 1993 ... Holds the school record in the triple jump (43-9 Ľ) set in 1992.

Rosalind Taylor, Maryland (1987-1989) An All-American in the mile in 1989 ... ACC Champion in the mile two years in a row (1988, 1989), the 800-meters in 1989 and the 1,000-yard run in 1987 ... An All-ACC selection in 1987-1989 ... ACC record-holder in the mile (4:42.92) ... Member of the 1987 and 1988 teams that finished third at the ACC Championships ... Holds the school record in the mile (4:39.09) set in 1989.
