BOSTON, Mass. - Seniors Renee Clarke and Zakiya Shivers earned fourth-place finishes Sunday to lead the University of Maryland to a 13th-place finish as a team at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Clarke placed fourth in the women's 400-meter dash at 55.15 seconds. The mark was a full-second lower than the season-best 56.27 she had before the weekend. Clarke went 55.58 in Saturday's prelims to qualify fourth for the final.

Shivers was fourth in the women's 20-pound weight throw at 59 feet, 0.75 inches. She had previously finished fifth last weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships with a throw less than an inch better than Sunday's mark.

The Maryland women finished with 24 points and in 13th place of the 50 scoring teams. The Terps improved their point total from 14 to 24 between last year and this year's event.

Also for the Maryland women on Sunday, Danielle Siebert was sixth in the mile run at 4:52.83. Chanel Williams finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best 8.74 seconds, running as the only freshman to make the finals.

Meghan Braffet and Katie Purcell each had season-bests in the women's 3,000, finishing 11th and 12th respectively. Purcell knocked more than seven seconds off her previous season-best.

On the men's side in the IC4A Championships, Maryland's 4x400 relay team of Earl Gray, Anthony Walker, Kyle Rauser and Sean Lowe placed fifth in a season-best 3:12.45. That group of two freshmen and two sophomores accounted for Maryland's four team points on the men's side, placing the Terps in a tie for 40th in the team standings.

Lowe made the final of the men's 400 and placed ninth in 48.48 seconds.

Maryland will find out on Monday which of its student-athletes will be invited to participate in the NCAA Indoor National Championships, to be held this weekend at the University of Arkansas. Senior Kierra Foster, who sat out the ECAC Indoor, has an automatic-qualifying mark for the NCAAs in the women's long jump.
