SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Chanel Williams posted the best time of the season by a Terrapin in the women's 400 meters and the men's 4x400 relay team just missed an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark in performances by University of Maryland student-athletes at the Alex Wilson Invitational indoor track and field meet hosted by Notre Dame.

The Wilson Invitational is a national meet giving athletes a last chance to qualify for next weekend's NCAA Indoor National Championships to be held at Arkansas.

Williams finished 14th overall in the women's 400 at 57.41 seconds, cutting a full second off her previous season-best. She also placed fifth in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles at 8.80.

Anthony Walker, Jeremy Samuels, Kyle Rauser and Sean Lowe combined to run 3:11.17 to finish fifth in the men's 4x400 relay, also posting the best time of the season for the Terps.

Dominic Berger was third and Adam Durham had a season-best (8.10) to place eighth in the men's 60-meter hurdles, while Jason Allen was fifth in the men's long jump at 22-4.25.

Berger, a returning All-American in the hurdles for Maryland, currently has the lone NCAA-qualifying mark of the season for the Terps. Some Maryland athletes are competing this weekend at the ECAC and IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston and could still qualify for nationals.
