COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's men's and women's cross country teams travel to Lock Haven, Pa. Saturday to take on the area's finest in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. Hosted by Bucknell, the meet will see many of the region's teams vie for the top spot.
Katie Purcell highlighted last year's championships in Davis, W.V., finishing in the top 25 with a season-best time of 21:47.1 in the 6K event. Purcell finished in 21st place to mark the sixth time as the Terps' top finisher. The women's cross country team secured eighth place, the team's highest finisher in recent years.
The men's squad finished in 13th place, a marked improvement over the last time the team competed as one, when they finished in 24th place. Mike Prada led the way for the men, earning 43rd place with his best time ever in a NCAA regional competition at 31:57.2.
