NEW ORLEANS, La. - Greg Kelsey of the University of Maryland was named this week as an All-Academic selection for men's cross country by the U.S. Track and Field / Cross Country Coaches Association.
Kelsey, a graduate student from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., was one of 56 student-athletes selected by the association. To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have either earned All-America status or finished in their NCAA region's top 15.
Kelsey earned a spot at the NCAA National Championships as an individual by virtue of his eighth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet last fall. He also was an All-ACC honoree after placing eighth at the conference championships.
Most recently, Kelsey ran one of the top marks all-time at Maryland indoors at 3,000 meters. He will compete for the Terrapins in two weeks at the ACC Indoor Championships.
