Duke Wins 2004 ACC Women's Cross Country Title

Three runners placed among the race's top 40 runners, and the Maryland women's cross country team finished in eighth place overall at this year's ACC Cross Country Championship today. The championship event was held at the University of Maryland and featured four teams among the current top 25 teams in the country. Duke tops that list and won its first ACC cross country crown today, as it posted a score of 29 points.

Duke was followed by North Carolina, who recorded 56 points to place second. NC State was third with 71 points, while Wake Forest was fourth with 94 points. Virginia tallied 163 points, finishing the race in fifth place and was followed by Florida State (6th - 168), Virginia Tech (7th - 197), Maryland (8th - 205), Clemson (9th - 270), Georgia Tech (10th - 272) and Miami (11th - 305).

The Terps were led by Meghan Braffet's 28th place effort, as she ran a team-best 23:11.1 on the 6k course. Danielle Siebert (37th place) and Laurel Jefferson (23:48.8) finished in 37th and 40th places, respectively, to help pace the Terps.
