Matyus, Reed Finish in Top Five at ECACs

BRONX, N.Y. - Erin Matyus and Kristin Reed of the University of Maryland placed third and fifth individually to lead Terrapin finishers Saturday at the ECAC Women's Cross Country Championships held at Van Cortland Park.

Matyus covered the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 8 seconds, finishing with the same time as second-place finisher Aeriel Emig of Cornell. They were behind only Nicole Cochran of Harvard, who won the individual title in 18:04. Reed was timed in 18:12.

As a team, Maryland finished fifth with 114 points. Cornell earned the team victory with 67 points, followed by Harvard (79) and William & Mary (87).

Also scoring for Maryland were Lindsay Ritchings (29th, 18:51), Angeli Sivaraman (37th, 19:00) and Kylynn McKinley (41st, 19:03). Ashley Cromartie was 45th, Andrea Rothschild was 49th, Ashley Campbell placed 54th and Amanda Robotti was 59th for the Terrapins.
