COLLEGE PARK, Md. - One of the largest fields of schools assembled for a collegiate track and field meet is expected for this Saturday's Terrapin Invitational, to be held at the Kehoe Track and Field Complex and hosted by the University of Maryland.
A total of 35 schools are entered in the meet, which will feature some of the top collegiate performers from around the northeast.
"We couldn't be happier that we've attracted this quality of a group of schools," said Terrapin Head Coach Andrew Valmon. "We want track and field fans in this area to see Maryland as a place they always think of when it comes to having a quality program and quality meets.
"To be able to have a stellar field like this makes us proud that the effort we're giving to return Maryland track and field to prominence seems to be working."
Due to the large field, some changes have been made to the schedule of events. The track events will begin at 9 a.m. with some sections of the women's and men's 5,000 meters. The final running events, the 4x400 relays, are scheduled for 5:50 p.m.
Field events begin with six competitions starting at 10 a.m. and continuing through 5 p.m.
The updated schedule of events is available online at www.umterps.com. Results will be available following the end of the day's competition at www.umterps.com.
