Track and Field is a great sport. This is your chance to learn from the Maryland coaching staff. You will have fun on our state-of-the-art facility, one of the fastest in the tracks in the country.

Our goal is to teach the skills needed to be competitive in track and field. Our coaches will provide a positive training environment, teach you the individual techniques and strategies that are necessary to be a competitive track and field athlete and have fun while meeting new friends.

All sports can learn new aspects of speed development. Football, baseball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey. Learn secrets of running fast. We will teach you how to get the edge on your competition.

COACHES: Bill Goodman- Maryland Head Track & Field Coach, 1999 ACC Indoor Indoor Coach of the Year, ACC champion 1973, IC4A champion 1975, coached 15 All-Americans and many ACC champions.

Dan Rincon- 13 years as Maryland Head Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field Coach. Former coach at Eleanor Roosevelt High 1983-88. College All-American.

Roland Desonier- Hall of Fame member at C.W. Post, he has been the throwing coach at Maryland for 12 years.

Donald Thomas- Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, he is a former Erie Community College assistant with eight years experience and five junior college All-Americans and JUCO championships. Coached high-jumper Vanessa Jones , Olympic Trials 2000.

Robert Allen- University of Maryland, 1973 graduate, pole-vault coach, coached many state champions at Calvert High School.

pCAMP DATES AND TIMES: June 17-22, 2001. Camp will run each day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5 p.m.

CAMP FEATURES: Top collegiate coaches will teach the young athletes the right skills so you can improve your speed and performances. The program content will consist of daily drills and instruction. Emphasis on speed, skill, suppleness, strength and stamina. The five keys to success.

TYPICAL DAY:
9:00 a.m.    Warm-up
9:30 a.m.    Drills
10:00 a.m.   Lead Ups
10:30 a.m.   Instruction on various skils and events
11:45 a.m.   Lunch
1-5:00 p.m.  Warm-ups and Instructions on Events

Bring spikes, water bottles. You will be encouraged to drink a lot of water.

IN THE EVENT OF RAIN: Any Monday-Thursday session will be moved inside to watch videos.

TUITION: $200.00

GROUP DISCOUNTS: Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. The fee for a participant belinging to a group is: $175.00.

HEALTH: All campers are required to have a medical insurance. Medical personnel will be present during camp. Please notify Bill Goodman of any asthmatic or allergic concerns at check-in. Physicals are recommended but not required.

CAMP INFORMATION: Final verification will be sent upon receipt of your application and deposit. Additional information will be sent prior to the start of camp.

To keep costs low bring money to go to the Student Union for lunch.
