Berger Wins ACC Championship

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Dominic Berger joined Meghan Braffet, Kierra Foster and Lynn Hernandez on the All-ACC team yesterday, when he won the ACC Championship in the 110-meter hurdles on the final day of competition. The Maryland women placed seventh overall, with the Miami women taking the team title. The Terrapin men came in 10th, behind first-place Florida State.

Berger, whose time of 13.78 in the 110-meter hurdles met the IC4A and NCAA Regional qualifying standard, followed his All-ACC and All-American indoor season with another All-ACC performance.

On the women's side, Meghan Braffet followed her ACC Championship on Friday with another top-five finish. She placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:35.72. Teammates Laurel Jefferson(16th, 17:09.45), Katie Purcell (22nd, 17:22.39), Cori Koch (24th, 17:40.47) and Allison Carney (33rd, 18:18.21) also placed in the event.

In the men's 400 meters, Sean Lowe placed sixth with a time of 47.62. The time was a season-best and IC4A qualifying mark for the sophomore.

Toni Aluko and Renne Clarke both placed fifth in their respective events. In the women's high jump, Aluko jumped 5-07.00, while Clarke had a time of 54.53 in the 400 meters.

In the men's 1,500 meters, Mike Fleg place ninth with a time of 3:51.65.

The Terp men and women 4 x 400 meter relays both placed fourth. The men posted a time of 3:12.38, while the women came in at 3:45.60.

The Terrapins return to action this Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
