HARRISONBURG, Va. - Only one member of the Maryland track team got a chance to finish an event today, as rain washed away the competition at day one of the James Madison Last Chance Invitational.
Senior distance runner Matt Green (Etna, N.H.) was the lone Terp finisher, as he took sixth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:35.68.
Most of the running events had at least some sections postponed due to the inclement weather. The mens long jump and womens pole vault were put off entirely until tomorrow.
Maryland sent several athletes to the meet in order to give them one final opportunity to qualify for postseason competition. Tomorrow's action will begin around 12 p.m. and will conclude in the early evening.
