2006 CROSS COUNTRY - Led Terrapins in five of the season's seven races... finished 17th overall at the Spiked Shoe Invitational with a time of 26:42.6... placed 21st overall at the Tribe Invitational with a time of 25:21.9, a season-best for any Terp... earned a team-best time of 30:27.7 at the competitive Chile Pepper Invitational, good for 43rd overall in the 10k race... finished 30th overall at both the ACC Championships (25:35.0) and the NCAA Regionals (31:29.8).

2006 OUTDOOR TRACK - Did not compete.

2006 INDOOR TRACK - Had the team's best time in the 3,000 meters... placed first at the UMES Lid Lifter with a time of 8:35.04.

2005 CROSS COUNTRY - Did not compete due to illness... redshirt season.

2005 OUTDOOR TRACK - Had the Terps' top four times in the 5,000 meters... ran an IC4A-qualifying time of 14:16.48 at the Duke Invitational where he placed first... fifth at the ACC Championships running a 14:25.5... Had a second-place finish at the Navy Invitational with a time of 14:38.3... ran a 14:55.73 at the IC4A Championships and placed 24th.

2005 INDOOR TRACK - Had the Terps' top two times in the 800 meters... ran a 1:55.39 at the Maryland Invitational to finish second... placed 18th at the Penn State National Open with a time of 1:55.02... had a third-place finish in the 1,000 meters at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a time of 2:29.96... finished first at the Delaware Invitational, running a 2:34.83... his season-best time in the mile of 4:11.9 came in the preliminaries of the ACC Championships when he placed third and qualified for the IC4A Championships... ran a 4:14.7 in the finals of the ACC Championships and finished eighth... placed second at the Maryland Invitational with a time of 4:12.18... finished first at the Delaware Invitational (4:24.47)... also qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 3,000 meters at the New Balance Collegiate where he ran an 8:20.84 and placed third... ran an 8:45.37 at the ACC Championships and finished 28th.

2004 CROSS COUNTRY - Earned team MVP honors in selection by coaches... All-Region selection and fourth-place finisher at the ECAC Championships... led the team with three top-five finishes... hit his stride at the end of the year, earning All-Mid Atlantic honors with a 23rd-place finish at NCAA Regionals... topped his season-best 8k time at those IC4As, running a 25:03... finished second overall at the JMU Invitational (25:44.61)... won the ACC Pre-Meet, running a 25:49.12... was an 18th-place finisher at the team's toughest regular-season race, the Penn State Invitational.

2004 OUTDOOR TRACK - Redshirted.

2004 INDOOR TRACK - Posted the team's best mile of the season, running 4:14.38 and finishing fourth at the Penn State Invitational... posted the team's fourth-best 1,000-meter time of 2:34.90 at the Armory Collegiate (finished seventh)... had the team's third and fourth best (8:28.32 and 8:30.90, respectively) times in the 3,000 meters... also ran the distance medley relay.

BEFORE MARYLAND - Lettered three years in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track at Toms River North High School in Toms River, N.J... earned Shore Conference Runner of the Year honors three times and Ocean County Runner of the Year honors four times... three-time state champion... won eight county championships and five conference championships in four years... left high school ranked No. 4 all-time in New Jersey cross country on the state course (5K; 15:36)... posted six school records, two Shore Conference records and three county records in four years.

PERSONAL - Son of Betsy and Peter Hess... chose to attend Maryland because of the strong combination between athletics and academics.
