COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A celebration of Terrapin track and field, past and present, will take place on Friday when Maryland plays host to the Kehoe Twilight Meet at the Kehoe Track Complex.

The field events begin with the women’s javelin and women’s pole vault at 3 p.m., with the first running event, the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, getting the gun at 5:30 p.m.

Other highlights on the schedule include the Charles Torpey Alumni Mile run at 8:10, named in honor of Maryland’s former head coach.

The meet is in honor of Hall of Fame coach Jim Kehoe, who helped establish Maryland as one of the most preeminent collegiate track and field programs in the 1960s and 1970s.

Other events are named for alumni Logan Schutz and Rosalind Taylor.

The Terrapins will also recognize their senior Class of 2014 in a recognition at 7:40 p.m.

Current Maryland track and field performers will compete with teams from Penn State, Georgetown, Lincoln University, UDC and Virginia State. A number of unattached, elite runners from the area are also scheduled to compete.

The Terrapins will also be trying to post marks to qualify for the upcoming ECAC and IC4A Outdoor Championships, leading up to the NCAA East Prelims in late May.
