COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Hundreds of Terrapins fans gathered outside of Comcast Center Thursday evening to send off the Maryland women’s basketball team to Nashville, Tenn., for the NCAA Final Four.
“We appreciate all of the support,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “We thank everybody for coming out today and joining us. The outreach and support we’ve received from our fans means a great deal to our team. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you in Nashville.”
The Maryland pep band, cheerleaders, President Wallace Loh and fans gathered to cheer and congratulate the team as Maryland loaded its bus and drove off.
Maryland takes on Notre Dame on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN. It is Maryland’s first appearance in the Final Four since 2006 – when it captured the national title.
