COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team announced the date for its annual Winter Workout camp Friday. The camp will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and will take place in the Maryland Gymnastics Training Facility located in the School of Public Health. The camp is open to beginner level gymnasts through Level 10 and Elite level gymnasts, ages seven to 18.
This one-day clinic is designed to teach campers the fundamentals of gymnastics with goal to meet the needs of each individual gymnast. Rotations of vault, bars, beam, floor, trampoline, strength, dance and flexibility will be included. The University of Maryland coaching staff and current members of the gymnastics team will provide instruction.
Maryland's camps have been growing in popularity. Last year nearly 100 gymnasts, including more than 20 Level 10's, attended the winter workout. This past summer the Terps hosted two sessions of its summer camp hosting a record 245 gymnasts with three international gymnasts joining the group (Canada, England and Puerto Rico).
The camp is $135 per participant and each participant will receive a Maryland Gymnastics Under Armour t-shirt. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., with workouts starting at 10 a.m. and running until 4 p.m.
For participants wishing to stay overnight in the area, the Holiday Inn College Park is offering a group rate.
