Terps Slip to 16th at Cougar Classic Monday

The Maryland women’s golf team dropped to 16th in the team standings Monday at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, S.C.

The Terps shot a 306 on the day after posting a 299 on Sunday. After recording the highest score on the squad in her first collegiate action, freshman Alexandria Papell paced Maryland on day two, registering a +2, shaving six strokes off her Sunday tally.

Emily Gimpel was one behind Papell with a 75 after tallying a 76 on day one.

Panitta Yusabai and Heidi Baek recorded an 80 and 81, respectively, with two-round scores of 156 and 157.   

After pacing Maryland in opening action with a 71, Juliet Vongphoumy shot an uncharacteristic +5 on day two but continues to lead the Terps on the leaderboard, tied for 36th with a 148 two-round score.

Maryland rounds out play at the Cougar Classic Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
