COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 17 Maryland Terrapins travel to Gainesville, Florida for a quad-meet with the No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones and the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs hosted by the No. 13 Florida Gators. The meet marks the first time this year the top-three teams in the southeast region have competed head-to-head.
Friday's meet will also be reminiscent of the 2001 Southeast Regional Championship meet, in which Georgia placed first with a 197.775, Florida placed second with a 196.650 and Maryland placed third with a 195.850.
Georgia, Maryland and Florida have been the top-three in the region for since the last week in January.
The Terps have never before been ranked this high so early in the season. If Maryland can remain in the top-18, they have a chance to receive a No.1 seed to the NCAA Regionals.
Friday's meet will be at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla., beginning at 7 p.m.
