Tumble Talk: Nikki Chung

G’day mates!

Get ready for the very first Australian edition of tumble talk brought to you by ROO! Fun fact of the day: did you know that kangaroos aren’t able to jump backwards?

Firstly, I’d like to say thanks to the Fallers, who adopted me over my first-ever thanksgiving. Although the drive to North Carolina was long (it took us eight hours to get there because of traffic) the home cooked meals and beds-that-aren’t-bunk-beds were definitely worth it!

Secondly… it’s snowing! We had lift this morning and after a relatively warm week, I was surprised when I opened my door to see snow on the car roofs! While those accustomed to snowy weather seemed relatively unamused, ERay and I were thrilled; I even threw a snowball at her!

The Terps have been very busy not only preparing for our upcoming intrasquad, but also for our final exams, which are taking place from the 16th onwards. Additionally, we have been rehearsing for the student-athlete talent show. Unfortunately, I can’t disclose any information regarding our act– it’s a surprise! But believe me, it’s looking pretty awesome! So fellow students and student-athletes I strongly urge you to book your tickets here <> so that you don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime performance on Tuesday 6pm at the Comcast Center Pavilion.

I don’t know about you but I am looking forward to Christmas break! I have been away for more than 3 months now which is the longest I’ve ever spent away from my family. I’m headed home on the 16th, so while you spend your Christmas freezing cold out in the snow, I’ll be 13 hours ahead, frying steaks on the barbie and soaking up the sun on the beach in Perth’s 110˚ degree summer weather. Again, the travel time is long (30 hours each way), but I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends and being able to talk fast Australian English without confusing people.

This week, we will have team events leading up to the Red vs. Black intrasquad and because we now know our teams, we will be dressing to practice accordingly (in red or black). We can’t wait to be out on the floor again amongst our Terp Fans, so please come and support us for this exciting forecast of the 2014 season at the Comcast Center this Thursday evening at 7pm… Go team red!

Thanks for reading, have a fantastic week and keep smiling :)
