As a Senior (2014): Competed on bars in nine meets… recorded a career-high score of 9.875 on bars twice vs. North Carolina (2/21) and against West Virginia (3/16) … recorded a 9.850 and placed tied for fifth on bars at the 2014 EAGL Championships (3/22) … competed on bars in NCAA Regionals (4/5) … scored a 9.700 or higher in seven meets … averaged a score of 9.653 on bars for the season … honored as EAGL Co-specialist of the week in March … named to the NACGC/W Scholastic All-America team … earned All-EAGL Scholastic team honors … Received the gymnastics program’s Sylvester Watch Award for a student-athlete that demonstrates courageousness in the face of adversity.

As a Junior (2013): Scored a 9.700 on bars against George Washington, Brown and Towson  (3/17)...recorded a 9.750 on bars at EAGL Championships (3/23)...Competed on bars at NCAA Regionals and scored a 9.625 (4/6).

As a Sophomore (2012): Competed on bars in all 13 meets...finished 17th on bars at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional...tallied a career-high 9.775 on bars against Alaska-Anchorage and Bridgeport (1/20)...named to the EAGL All-Academic team for the second time...scored a 9.800 or higher on bars in eight meets...received the Most Improved Award at the team banquet.

As a Freshman (2011): Did not compete...recipient of the Positive Mental Attitude Award.

Before Maryland: Competed at TRC Gymnastics in Solana Beach, Calif., for 14 years...member of Level 9 Western National Championship team in 2009...qualified for Level 10 regionals in 2009 and 2010...member of National Honor Society and recipient of Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in 2007-2010.

Personal: Jessie Helen Black...daughter of Buddy and Nanette Black...has one sister, Jamie...father, Buddy, is manager of the San Diego Padres...came back from a fractured spine to continue to compete...came to Maryland because she loved the team, coaches and the campus...also recruited by California, Alaska, Penn and Yale...always has a lucky hair tie on her wrist when she competes.
