Terpness is about sportsmanship in the stands as well as on the field. Maryland athletics promotes an atmosphere where fans, home and visiting, interact in a positive, thoughtful and friendly way. Maryland athletics has developed a work force called Terp Hosts to prioritize guest relations on football game day. Terp Hosts will be positioned strategically throughout the arena to welcome fans to each game and provide assistance in helping all of our guests have the most enjoyable experience possible. Terp Hosts will be wearing credentials around their necks, black sweater vests with white dress shirt and khaki pants.

TERPNESS
Good sportsmanship on and off the field - that's what Terpness! is all about. It's about how we treat visiting team players, fans and each other. Good sportsmanship on the field and in the stands - that's the Maryland way. So, while you're here, show a little Terpness!

TESTUDO
Dr. H.C. "Curly" Byrd, the former football coach who later became University President, recommended the Diamondback turtle as Maryland's mascot in1932 in response to the student newspaper's search for an "official" leader. The class of 1933 sponsored, as its graduation gift, the permanent, bronzed terrapin that watches over McKeldin Mall to this day. Identical bronzed Terrapins exist on the Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium and at the entrance to XFINITY Center.
