As a Sophomore in 2010: All-ACC Second Team selection...Started in 20 games , missing three due to injury...one of Maryland's best defenders, holing up the central defense...had first career assist in a 3-2 win over Clemson (10/16)...helped guide Maryland to two shutout victories in NCAA Tournament action against Penn (11/21) and Penn State (11/28)...shut down nation's top goal-scorer, holding PSU's Corey Hertzog to a mere one shot...helped Maryland tie program-best mark for shutouts in a season with 15, including blank sheets versus No. 9 Duke, No. 2 UCONN, No. 5 Virginia, No. 13 William & Mary in the regular season, UVA and UNC in the ACC Championship.
As a Freshman in 2009: All-ACC Freshman Team selection...one of only three players to start and play in all 23 matches...steady as a rock in the backline, helping the Terps secure nine shutouts in the 2009 campaign...second on the team in minutes played (2,003)...netted his first career goal against Duquesne (9/15)....defensively, helped shutout then- No. 2 North Carolina in front of a Ludwig Field-record crowd of 6,946 (9/25)...also aided the Terrapin defense in a shutout of eventual national champion Virginia (10/31).
Before Maryland: Member of US U-18 National Team Pool...member of D.C. United U-18 Academy...scored ten goals and dished out five assists for the 2007 Maryland State Champion Barons... Washington Post All-Met Second Team in 2007 and First Team All-Gazette in 2007 and 2008...2003 Junior Olympic gold medalist in the pentathlon and earned a silver in the 1500m.
Personal: Full name is Norris Ethan White...the son of Norris Q. White and Peggy Williams...born Jan. 1, 1991...lists his non-sports hero as President Barack Obama...chose Maryland because it was an amazing school with an amazing soccer program.
