COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- - The Maryland (7-2) men's soccer team recorded its most commanding win this season when it powered past Howard (3-2-1) 6-0 Wednesday night at Ludwig Field. Hermann Trophy candidate Taylor Twellman (St. Louis, Mo.) scored the game-winner at 16:51 and added another goal and an assist in the second half for the Terrapins.

Freshman Scott Buete (Bowie, Md.) got things started when he found Twellman on a cross from the left side. Twellman then made the deposit into the lower left corner of the net past Howard goalie Nigel Burgess. The Terrapin's offense would remain dormant for the remainder of the half, before unleashing a five-goal assault during the second stanza.

A.J. Herrera (Albuquerque, N.M.) kicked the scoring parade off at 54:29 off a forward pass from Siba Mohammed (Louisville, Ky.). Buete was also credited with an assist on the play after finding Mohammed from the midfield to get things started. Senior Jason Cropley (La Canada, Calif.) stepped up next, netting his fourth goal of the year off assists from Twellman and fellow Hermann candidate Nick Downing at 60:29.

Maryland went scoreless for the next twenty minutes until at 80:54 when Twellman struck again for his second goal of the day. Cropley and junior Jason Sardis (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) got credit for the assist. It was Sardis' 15th career assist, putting him in a four-way tie for the ten spot on the Maryland career assists chart. Cropley's assist put him one away from that chart and moved him into a tie with Keith Beach for the No. 10 slot Maryland's career points chart.

Two more Terrapins would score before time expired, besting the team's previous season-high outing of five goals against Butler. Siba Mohammed (Louisville, Ky.) made a picture-perfect cross from the right side of the box to a charging Reed Rickert (Sewickley, Pa.) who netted his second goal of the season. Junior defender Mike Shebuski (Bloomington, Minn.) was also credited with an assist on the play. Junior transfer Nick Purdom (Orange, Calif.) put an exclamation point on the Terp victory when he cleaned up the rebound off a Nouf Tajini (Casablanca, Morocco) shot and scored his first collegiate goal.

Christian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) manned the nets for the Terps most of the night, with Kevin Schmidt (Westfield, N.J.) giving the junior goalie relief with 17:39 remaining. Each had one save and gave up no goals.
