COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's freshman sensation Abe Thompson (Fairfax Station, Va.) continued his hot stretch as he scored the only goal of the day to lift Maryland to a 1-0 shutout of William & Mary. For Maryland (9-6-0), the win was the fourth straight -- all of which have come by shutout -- and all recorded by senior keeper Christian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.).

Thompson, who has now recorded points in six straight games, beat Tribe keeper Billy Platz into the lower left corner of the goal at the 61:45 mark. The goal came off a cross from freshman Philip Salyer (Dallas, Texas), who had taken a thru ball from senior Jason Sardis (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) to begin the sequence. Over the six-game stretch, Thompson now has seven goals and three assists for 17 points.

The shutout win for Lewis was his seventh this season and gives him 21 for his four-year career. He made three saves including one in the final minute in a wild exchange to preserve the win. In the final 30 seconds William & Mary had three shots including a Doug Henry blast which was stopped by Lewis and a Caleb Stoddart shot that hit off the right post.

The win was a monumental one for Maryland head coach Sasho Cirovski, who won his 125th career game as a coach. He now has a 125-68-14 overall record at Maryland and Hartford. The win was also Cirovski's 99th as a Terp coach. Cirovski will have a chance to win his 100th game as Maryland's coach on Wednesday night as No. 23 Loyola comes to College Park for a make-up game at 7 p.m. The original game was postponed on Sept. 20.
