COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A.J. Herrera (Albuquerque, N.M.) led Maryland's offense with three points and scored the game winner as the Terrapin men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win over ACC-foe NC State Sunday at Ludwig Field. The Terrapins are 10-7-1 (1-4-1 ACC) heading into the ACC tournament this weekend, while NC State is 4-14 (0-6 ACC).

Herrera converted the game winner in the 23rd minute off a Bryan Vitagliano (Scottsdale, Ariz.) cross that sailed over the box. Ian Rodway (Columbia, Md.) settled it and tapped it to Herrera in front of the box for the goal. The Terps dominated the first half like they dominated most of the game, outshooting NC State 12-4 with close-calls glancing off the post and crossbar in the half.

Over three minutes into the second half, Maryland scored its second goal of the day when Vitagliano started it up again, finding Herrera this time. Herrera directed it to Sjolund, who found the back of the net past NC State goalie Mitchell Watson (3 saves).

The Terps' final goal of the game was redshirt-freshman Jason Arnold's (Fairfax Station, Va.) first of his career. Arnold's goal came on assists from Sjolund and Siba Mohammed (Tamale, Ghana) to give the Terps the 3-0 win.

On senior day, lone senior and team co-captain Beckett Hollenbach (Havertown, Pa.) led the Terps' defense to a shutout, its fifth of the year. Noah Palmer (Williamsburg, Va.) was credited with the win, his 10th of the year. Maryland outshot NC State 25-7 and had 10 corner kicks to the Wolfpack's two.

The Terps, still injury-depleted and without several starters, has their work cut out for them this week. Both Maryland and NC State head to the ACC Tournament at Clemson and open action on Thursday.
