COLLEGE PARK, Md. - North Carolina freshman midfielder Chris Leitch scored at the 104:36 mark off an assist by freshman midfielder Daniel Jackson to lift the Tar Heels to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against the 18th-ranked Maryland Terrapins Saturday night at Ludwig Field. The loss drops the Terps to 8-4 overall, 2-2 in the ACC, while North Carolina improves to 7-4 overall, 1-3 in the ACC.
Both teams played to a scoreless first half, when at the 56:15 mark, Maryland freshman forward Taylor Twellman scored on an unassisted goal off of a rebounded shot, which he took on the play previous. Tar Heel goalkeeper William Woodroffe saw the ball rebound off his chest and Twellman was able to head the ball in the net. North Carolina's Michael Bucy would score the Tar Heel's first goal of the evening at the 71:58 mark when he put back a ball of an indirect kick.
Maryland travels to Richmond this Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Spiders, and returns home on October 17 to host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
