NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 1 Maryland men's soccer team opened its 2006 season with a 2-0 victory against No. 23 Old Dominion on August 25 at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium. Sophomore Graham Zusi and junior Stephen King tallied the goals for the Terps who won their seventh straight home opener.
Maryland owns a 29-2 goal advantage in its openers since 2000. That stretch includes five consecutive shutouts with the win tonight.
Zusi struck early in the match when he intercepted a Monarch pass in front of the box and lifted a shot over the keeper in the third minute. King capitalized on another Old Dominion miscue when he converted a penalty kick at the 41:13 mark in the first half to give the Terps the 2-0 advantage.
The No. 1 Terps open their home schedule on Sunday, August 27 when they host Binghamton at Ludwig Field at 7:00 p.m.
