SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The top-ranked Maryland men's soccer team remained unbeaten with a scoreless tie at Seton Hall Tuesday night.

Maryland (7-0-1) outshot the Pirates (3-2-2) a massive 23-6, led by five shots each from Casey Townsend and Sunny Jane. Freshman Keith Cardona, who made his first start at keeper while making a return trip to his home state of New Jersey, tallied one save in the shutout.

The Terps also held Seton Hall without a single corner kick while taking 13 of their own. It was the first time this season the potent Maryland attack was held to fewer than two scores in a game.

Maryland's defense posted its fourth shutout through eight matches in 2011. The Terps are surrendering a mere 0.75 goals per contest.

"We played some really good soccer tonight against a highly-determined and defensively committed team," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "We did everything but put the ball into the back of the net.

"We had two great looks in the first half with one going off the cross bar and another just wide. We will learn from tonight and move on to Saturday."

Maryland concludes its two-game road stint with a conference match at Virginia Tech Saturday at 7 p.m.
